The French tax administration have recently been making sure that taxpayers liable for wealth tax are aware of the dates on which the declaration and payment deadlines fall.
As in the case for income tax returns, taxpayers paying the wealth tax (ISF) must meet deadlines for filing and paying taxes. These deadlines may differ depending on the taxable net worth of the declarant’s assets. Solidarity tax on wealth (ISF) concerns taxpayers with wealth exceeding €1.3 million.
Concerning taxpayers with assets between €1.3 and €2.57 million
They do not require a specific tax form. They simply deferred the amount of their patrimony on their 2016 income tax return. For tax returns, the taxpayers have until 12am (Midnight) on Wednesday, May 17th, 2017 to file them and until September 15th, 2017 to make the payments. Those who report their income via the Internet have additional time limits to remember:
Tuesday, May 23rd 2017 at 12am (Midnight) for Departments 01 – 19 and non residents.
Tuesday, May 30th 2017 at 12am (Midnight) for Departments 20 – 49.
Tuesday, June 6th 2017 at 12am (Midnight) for Departments 50 – 974/976.
Note: dematerialised payment must be made by the 20th September 2017 at the latest.
For taxpayers whose assets are greater than or equal to €2.57 million
The person liable for the wealth tax must file his normal or simplified tax return with his annexes and supporting documents no later than 15th June 2017, accompanied by payment by bank cheque or by bank transfer (online payment is not possible).
Note: the tax administration makes available, on its website www.impots.gouv.fr, two notices explaining and recapitulating the methods of declaration and payment of the ISF.
